Nagu
Active holidays in nature's bosom
Nagu (Nauvo in Finnish) is a popular tourist municipality. In addition to the two main islands, there are 3000 smaller islands and skerries in Nagu's unique archipelago. You can come to Nagu on the Archipelago Trial using the spacious ferries from Pargas. Close to the very popular guest harbour in the center, there is the Hotel Strandbo, restaurant L'Escale and restaurant Lanterna.
Accommodation and a wide range of things to do is offered also by: the Nagu Old Manor House, the Saga guest house, the Norrgård holiday village, the holiday cottages on Hinders and Stenskär, and at the Grännäs and GyttjaVästergård bed and breakfast accomodation, throughout the year. At Lomanauvo you will find a holiday village as well as camping services. On Nagu you can take part in fishing and canoe trips, archipelago safaris, and the experiences offered by the Archipelago nature school. For boat people the guest harbour on Gullkrona and several natural harbours offer a fine holiday setting.
The historical sights in Nagu are the grey stone church from the middle ages and the Gyttja district museum. The island of Själö is also worth visiting. Today the Archipelago Research Institute operates from here. The picturesque wooden church reminds us of the time when the island was a place where lepers used to be banished. Your visit will be enriched by a sales exhibition by a large number of handicraft artists and the display by ship model builder Åke Sandwall. From Nagu the archipelago Trial continues on to Korpo by ferry.
